4-5-20 on the news: Big cats in the Bronx Zoo tested positive for COVID-19. I’ve heard different statements from two Veterinarians, one saying that the big cats are different than domestic cats, another vet saying all cats have the same receptors as humans for COVID-19. So if you have COVID-19 protect your cat like you would the rest of your family.
It’s unknown yet about dogs and CV-19.
“At present, there is no evidence that companion animals/pets such as dogs or cats can be infected with the virus. However, it is always a good idea to wash your hands with soap and water after contact with pets.”
